You are always under the lens

In the business of life, we evaluate people and situations every moment of every day. Sometimes our impressions are good and sometimes bad, but they are not neutral. Whether we like to admit it or not, we are often judged by everyone around us, including our colleagues, superiors, and the environment in general. Most people don’t like to think about it for the simple reason that judgment often goes hand in hand with criticism. And who wants to hear about their failings, real or imagined? But it’s important to decide which behaviors to maintain and which to amend to achieve poise and, ultimately, success in the world of business.”

It’s not while being on the center stage during professional exposures but it’s in our casual moments and activities we become more vulnerable. The absence of social and business etiquette comes to notice immediately. Unfortunately, it’s usually a carefree everyday conversation that spoils our image. A casual comment about someone can prove to be damaging. Our dress sense and demeanor are always in the spotlight. It’s mostly on friendly mundane occasions our image comes to be threatened more.

Mistakes in writing emails and office notes can project a deficient personality. Your behavior in your weaker moments, especially when your mistakes are being pointed out tells a lot about your mental makeup. How you welcome and greet a person sets the tone for future proceedings and success.

So what do we do? Dodging will lead us nowhere. It is for us to understand that we often learn more from our mistakes than our successes. Hence it is better to face the reality and be always prepared to make a lasting impression.

To do business smartly is to find out more about others. It means learning how to interact with others. It is more effective if you consistently focus on the positive. This means being at your best at all times. Your body language plays an important role for you. Your character and core values make up your personality and play a vital role in the way you conduct yourself. Personal values are the qualities or characteristics you value. It’s for you to be on watch and maintain your values, both on or off parade as it’s said in the armed forces.
