  2. Bhakti Yoga (Path of Devotion): Emphasizes devotion and love towards a personal deity or the divine. Practitioners cultivate a deep connection through prayer, worship, and surrender to the divine.

  3. Karma Yoga (Path of Action): Advocates selfless action and performing one's duties without attachment to the results. Practitioners aim to act per dharma (righteousness) while remaining detached from the fruits of their actions.

  4. Raja Yoga (Royal Path): Outlined in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, Raja Yoga involves the practice of ethical and moral principles (yamas and niyamas), physical postures (asanas), breath control (pranayama), withdrawal of the senses (pratyahara), concentration (dharana), meditation (dhyana), and ultimately, union with the divine (samadhi).

  5. Hatha Yoga: Focuses on physical postures (asanas) and breath control (pranayama) to prepare the body and mind for meditation. Hatha Yoga is often considered a subset of Raja Yoga, emphasizing the balance of opposing forces (ha meaning sun and tha meaning moon).

  6. Tantra Yoga: Involves the worship of the divine through rituals, symbols, and the awakening of Kundalini energy. Tantra Yoga aims to unite the individual with the cosmic consciousness.

These paths are not mutually exclusive, and practitioners often find that elements of multiple paths complement each other in their spiritual journey. The ultimate goal of Yoga in Hindu philosophy is self-realization, leading to liberation (moksha) from the cycle of birth and death (samsara).
