Tackle Limiting Beliefs to Get Rid of Distorted Self-Image

We all have different experiences right from our childhood. Our beliefs are a result of these experiences and are not based on facts. It will not be prudent to operate our lives based on these assumed facts without even the consideration of anything different. Therefore a distinction must be made between a belief and a fact of life. False beliefs when held as facts result in forming a distorted self-image.

Some of us have been forced in the past to think that we’re not good enough. Later this turns into self-victimization. This is the folly that goes on due to limiting core beliefs. You will be surprised if I assure you that once you are aware of this fact your life changes for good.

Our Early Years

Problems with low self-esteem and poor self-image are often a result of negative messages communicated through emotional abuse and neglect by the parents. The first seven years of our upbringing are very important. Every child’s self-esteem grows with each experience of successful interactions through encouragement. Did you develop any false beliefs and unreasonable expectations of yourself as a result of the way your parents treated you as a child?

Healing Your Emotional Self

Our negative beliefs and unreasonable expectations of ourselves and about life are permanently grooved in our brains. Identifying these false beliefs and unreasonable expectations is the first step to expelling them from your mind. Changing our minds about these negative beliefs is possible. It is true that it is possible to change even the most negative, harmful, and destructive beliefs.

Take Action to Change

# It’s important that you are aware that it is just a belief and not a fact.

# Be brave to face your own belief.

# Know the consequences of the change.

# Embrace the new belief.

# Apply it in your life. Remember, patience is the watchword.

Afterthought

Changing your core beliefs can take a great deal of time and effort, but it is certainly worth it. These changes help you to alter your view of yourself and the world in a significant way. Getting rid of negative core beliefs helps amend your distorted self-image. It happens because you now know the truth about what you really are. You are now ready to write your story afresh.
