Procrastination leads to more delays

Opening

The habit of not being “on time” creeps up slowly but surely. A time comes when you feel left out or abandoned, not just by friends and family, but life as a whole. It’s shocking to realize that you’ve been left behind and not up to the mark. When we do, we become too harsh on ourselves and perhaps blame ourselves for not sticking to schedules. Here you need to pause for a moment and think about removing the barriers that are causing you delays. These barriers retard your growth.

Not singled out

Remember that someone has felt the same way as you. You’re not the only one missing something. You aren’t the only one who feels worthless because you feel alienated. But, like all emotions, the feeling of being disregarded can shake your mind and open your eyes to a healthier reality. It is so simple to be on time, and if you try it is not at all difficult to adopt certain techniques to do so.

Analyze and review

You are left behind either in feelings or facts. When you compare your achievements with people who are exploring different talents than you, you are said to be left behind in your feelings. When you do not agree with the present and do not do what you must do in the present, you are left behind in the facts.

In such situations, we tend to compare ourselves with the past or future version of ourselves. It helps to live in the present and do duties as expected. It will do you no good to wait for your feelings to change in any way to take action. Take action and your feelings will change for a fact.

You the master

How we exercise our minds to find what interests us should be such that overestimation of our capabilities is avoided. Being unrealistic subdues aspirations and goals we set become out of reach. When we set goals according to other people’s expectations we find a lack of worthiness in ourselves. Procrastination then results as an avoidance mechanism and becomes a habit.

We are only responsible for the experiences that shape our lives. Delay breeds delays. The time you have allowed to pass by procrastinating may cost you big time. This terrible feeling of being left out in life will most likely lead you to depression and unwarranted stress. The answer lies in optimizing your time to increase productivity. Don’t allow the delay to breed delays. You cannot turn back the clock; you just have to live with regret.

Time to wake up

Procrastination having some positive aspects to it apparently may look like a “pursuit of pleasure”. However, its consequences invariably are more painful if you do not take steps to avoid it. Change your attitude to one oriented toward growth and you will find yourself leading from the front.

Why should you wait for the perfect moment? Go right ahead, capture the moment, and make it perfect.
