Coping a Feeling of Worry, Nervousness, or Unease in a Relationship

Updated: Jul 22, 2023

If you are constantly worrying about your relationship or feel like your relationship is in trouble, you may be suffering from relationship anxiety. Relationship anxiety is a type of anxiety that can occur in relationships. This can manifest as fear of rejection, jealousy, insecurity, or control issues. At worst, feeling insecure in a relationship can lead to a lack of trust.

If you struggle with relationship anxiety, know that you are not alone. It is a common problem that affects people of all ages and genders. Worry not as there are things you can do to manage your anxiety and recover. Here are some tips.

You should talk about your anxiety with your partner. It may not be the best conversation you had in the recent past, but it’s important to let your partner know how you feel. You won’t get help solving the problem if you don’t let others know what the problem is. Both of you should share your concerns with each other and seek common solutions.

What worries you? Are there special circumstances (like being away from your partner for a long time) or just general concerns about the future of your relationship? Once you know what’s causing your anxiety, you can begin to remove those triggers.

Any silence should not be taken lightly. Silence does not help when one partner refuses to communicate with the other without explanation. This can be a form of emotional abuse because it intentionally creates distance and tension between partners. Being exposed to this type of behavior can be very confusing and hurtful. If you are in a relationship where you are receiving silent treatment, it is important to understand that this is not normal or healthy behavior. You can solve this situation in several ways. If your partner doesn’t want to talk, you may need to go to counseling or therapy together.

Find time for yourself. It is important to take care of yourself physically and mentally. Get plenty of rest, exercise, and eat healthy foods. Spend time with friends and family that makes you feel good. Remove yourself emotionally from the situation and focus on taking care of yourself.

It’s undeniable that dealing with negative emotions can be difficult, but there are ways to deal with them productively. One way to do this is to find an activity or outlet that helps you release these emotions in a positive way. For example, some people find that keeping a journal helps. Others may prefer to take up a new hobby to escape negative emotions.

Just like anxiety, help is available for relationship anxiety. It can be treated with counseling and, in extreme cases, medication. Relationships are complicated and we all have our worries, fears, doubts, and insecurities, but don’t let them ruin your relationship.
