Business: The Next Level

Updated: Jul 23, 2023

"It’s true, people can change. People can learn, grow, and surprise each other".

We’ve taken rapid strides to move out of the Industrial Age and into the Information Age. Yet many of our ways of meeting workforce obligations are still designed for success in the previous Age. There is a need of making small changes continuously in order to fully integrate the essentials of the Information Age into our lives.

Providing jobs, training, and empowerment for people keeping their welfare in mind can be an important path to any business and one that, when approached with the right attitude, can take it to the desired level.

There are a few questions we have to ask ourselves though. What is the purpose of our business in the first place? Is it for the good of society? Do we respect nature and work towards preserving the environment while we produce and provide services? Do we value the well-being of our customers and employees? Productivity and profits largely turn into pleasure depending upon how well the purpose is shared.

A business must invest in people. It refers to the practice of allocating resources, time, and efforts to improve the well-being, skills, and capabilities of individuals. This concept is associated with human capital development and is a crucial aspect of organizational climate and culture.

There are several key areas where investing in people can have a significant impact. One of the primary ways to invest in people is through education. Facilitate them to have a growth mindset. Providing continued access to quality education equips individuals with knowledge, critical thinking skills, and expertise, enabling them to contribute more effectively to the organization and productivity.

Involvement in welfare activities and having an effective feedback system is essential for the overall well-being of individuals. Investing in such systems and activities helps improve physical and mental health leading to a more productive and resilient workforce.

Offering training and development opportunities to individuals help enhance their professional skills and adaptability. This, in turn, leads to a more skilled workforce, which can drive innovation and economic growth.

Therefore it is important to recruit people who share your sense of purpose. How do you screen people for their suitability to join you? Look for the general good in them beyond their scholarly qualifications and skills. How well they understand your business philosophy is of paramount importance right at the time of induction. I’m sure, the rest can be taught in due course to the children of the Information Age integrating them fully into the family.
